Bettyblog, MD! (MD = maturity developing)
On Saturday I participated in a biking tour of the Niagara wineries in celebration of my good friend's Nancy's wedding next month! It was so nice. Who knew St. Catharine's was so beautiful and Port Dalhousie is so happenin'? (That's Port Dal-hoo-zee, floozie). The highlight of the tour, besides getting to spend time with Nancy before I move away to the left coast, was definitely taking the self-guided tour of Frogpondfarm (no spaces).
Why you ask? Because we pissed our pants and estranged our friendly tour guide by imitating the frogsinthepond. Bao! Bao! Bao! It went a bit like this:
[Nancy Drew and crew enter the small but ecological organic wine shop.]
Nancy and crew: BAO!
Wine guy: So I suppose you saw our pond outside?
Nancy and crew: BAO!
[Tour guide looks bewildered.]
Wine guy (unflustered): Would you like to try some of our wines?
Nancy and crew: BAO!!!
[Tour guide really wonders if this group includes doctors and wishes he had stayed in bed.]
The tour guide really wanted to kill me when I mistook the sheep for llamas and we started a discussion on scabies. (Side note - I saw that the sheep were missing parts of their coat and this reminded me of the disease SCRAPIE, but I said scabies instead because I was intoxicated from all that wine tasting, which left Nancy very puzzled as to my explanation of why scabies is called scabies (because sheep with scrapie scrape themselves on fence posts, thus the name scrapie). (Ah ha Nancy I figured it out!)
I truly wish I could convey the precise accuracy with which we emulated the call of the frogsinthepond (very accurate, believe me) and I even went so far as to google frog sounds, and while I could not find the mating call bao which sounds like a banjo (and it definitely is a mating call because it was Nancy and I communicating with frogs at the pond, for goodness' sake) I found something just as endearing - check it out.
Man do I love nature. And google. And all those crazy frog lovers out there who post audio collections of frog sounds. (I know you want to know more).

Why do I have to time for all this debauchery you ask? Because I still have a little less than one month to go before I am enslaved by the hospitals. Although I have time off, it has been a busy time. I graduated at the end of the May and my cousin got married shortly thereafter. It was wonderful to spend time with my family all dressed up! (And my mother and sisters are so so beautiful!)
Could I love my niece even more? Not really.
I also had the great fortune in my life to come across the two best slideshows I've ever seen. The first by my classmate Des who made the most kick-ass graduation slideshow ever, and my sister Rose who also made me a graduation slideshow with messages from my family, which I will watch everytime I get homesick in BC (i.e. every 5 seconds, in between eating the best sushi in Canada.)

I embark on a drive across Canada really soon (hauling the car out with Mike) and I am very excited to live in Vancouver (Kits to be exact!!) but I am afraid of how much I will miss my family and friends. To avoid thinking about that too much I made a list of things I will miss about Toronto (contrary to my former opinion, it actually is possible to miss things about Ta-ron-na).
Things I will miss:
1. Kitchen Stuff Plus!!
2. Kitchen Stuff Plus!!
3. Woodbridge
In my medical opinion (which is actually valid now?!?!) you really need antidepressants when: You're the only person in the universe who hasn't seen the Sex and the City movie, and you can't even get your little sister and boyfriend to go!
This post is dedicated to Nancy, who is one of the few people who reads this blog and actually enjoys it. She has even tried the recipes I have posted, which makes me me wonder if I should have included a vomit rating from 1 to 10, 10 being the worst vomit you could ever think of. I'm so happy for you Nancy and it humbles me that you enjoy this blog and don't worry, I really won't miss Woodbridge!
