Birthday adventures
For my birthday this year I enjoyed my very first opera!

Gounod's "ultra-sensual interpretation" of Romeo and Juliet was fantastic. I thank my family medicine preceptor for letting me know about this great new initiative to send opera out to the masses!

Operas will be broadcast live every Saturday afternoon at Cineplex theatres across the country. I highly recommend it.

This weekend a giant storm hit Eastern Canada. I stayed inside and enjoyed a giant chicken pot pie from Costco. A pigeon also happened to die on the fire escape outside my window this morning, I suppose being frozen to death after 25 cm of snow fell in 24 hours. A pigeon friend started ruffling its feathers and tearing the poor bird up this morning, I suppose in an effort to revive it. Then a flock of crows started hacking at the poor thing and the bloody carcass was left among a flurry of feathers. It was so traumatizing. Thank goodness my landlord was around to dispose of it. However, he didn't clean up all the feathers and it serves as a sickening reminder of this morning's events. The world is a harsh, cruel place! (As evidenced by Arctic Tale).
