Exciting times

Kenya Update
April 7, 2006

I can't believe that it's only 22 days now before I leave for the great continent of Africa! It's hard not to think about even though I have my set of triplet exams on Monday. I'm almost medically prepared, just need a precription for some ciprofloxacin in case I get sick. I think travel medicine would be a great field to go into... anyways if you need immunization information, I'm your new source since I've gotten like four in the past two weeks.

So very exciting news! Caring Partners International, the organization I am volunteering for, has officially partnered up with Queen's! Exciting times. Check out the news release. We were also featured on CKWS Kingston news the other day, but I studied through it (obviously). So what are the perks of this new partnership? Well all ten of us travelling get our own sets of scrubs (donated by Kingston General Hospital, of course - we were told they'd be "slightly used" or something like that, but that's ok! We're poor medical students, we don't expect much these days). Seriously, the best thing is that this project will be sustainable and every year we will be sending students to learn about health care in Kenya and hopefully contribute to it in some way ('cuz heaven only knows I don't know nothin' - which reminds me, I better get back to studying).
