Le dernier dimanche

For my second-last day in Kingston Mike and I went bike riding on Wolfe Island which is a pleasant twenty-minute ferry ride from the downtown waterfront. This is how the afternoon started:

Betty: Ooh, there's a Timmy Ho's right beside the pier where the ferry departs. Let's get us some ice caps.

Mike: That's a damn good idea.

Betty: (To Timmy Ho's customer service rep) Two small ice caps, please.

Timmy Ho's Customer Service Rep: Sorry, no ice caps.

Betty and Mike: (internally) Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat!?!? %#$@!?!? What do you mean, no ice caps, we're at Timmy Ho's aren't we? What kind of crazy person are you? This is insanity...!!

Betty and Mike (externally): What do you mean, no ice caps?

Timmy Ho's Ice Cap Nazi: The mixture in the machine isn't frozen enough.

(I look over to the machine and the stuff coming out looks good enough to me.)

Betty: Screw that! Make that one LARGE ice cap please.

I learned a few things from the bike ride:
1) Nobody refuses me an ice cap, frozen or unfrozen! (And yes, I am fully aware the full word is iceD cappucino)
2) The best part was seeing cows up-close in the pasture and Mike's giant (and quite convincing, I might add) "MOOOooOOOOOOoooOO!!" cries
3) I think I have a fifteen-minute fun capacity for outdoor activities - 6 holes of golf and I'm out; one kilometer of bike riding and I'm grumpy and fatigued... (I thank my bike partner for putting up with me)
4) I want to blame my lack of stamina on the giant steak I had last night at Moxie's... mmmmm... it takes a lot of work to digest that baby, you know?
5) Rob, who graciously lent us a mode of locomotion on two wheels, has the best bike ever!

Tomorrow I pack and head home to Toronto... but before I do I'm making a trip to the Queen's bookstore to get me a copy of Neuroanatomy Through Clinical Cases. In case, you know, I dare happen to get bored at home and want to study.

LOL you're funny, but ice caps suck and aren't worth the trouble. And I see you go biking with MIKE, but not with ME. hmph

Well, if you recall 2 (two) people went bike riding which requires 2 (two) bikes... I thought instead of having Mike hang from the handlebars of my beloved bike that you fixed up for me, I should try and get him his own mode of transportation.

...Aren't you a math teacher? Wow what a few weeks of summer vacation can make one forget... heheh

I just want to take a quick second to reiterate just how amazing Rob’s bike was! It has a better suspension than my car, more gadgets than one knows what to do with and rolls effortlessly down the road. Needless to say in my eyes, it was a perfect Sunday. Great weather, a sub-par but still very refreshing ice cap, a ferry ride but most of all, perfect company. The sad part was leaving Kingston on Sunday night (SIGH). At least I have raspberry lemonade, generic Food Basics pizza sauce and fresh plums (which are damn good by the way) to help tie me over until next time!

Glad you enjoyed the bike,
and I hope you get as much enjoyment out of the Neuro text as I have this summer... no, I'm serious.
